So, Wil Wheaton has this thing going on about a picture. His buddy Shane Nickerson posted the myster pic below, and Wil suggested that they make it some kind of creative writing project (or something like that)

Lo and behold, my muse came back for a visit. Nevermind all the fanfic plotbunnies bouncing around. Think its telling me something?
Anyway, I give you the following as-yet-untitled-story, based on the following pic.

They stood there, waiting. It had come through on the wire that a very important group of people were going to be in town, and were due to arrive within the hour.

Thomas sighed and leaned against the counter, idly drumming his fingers on the counter keeping in time with the ticking of the clock. His father, Joseph, glanced at his pocket watch. The Ten O’clock train would have come and gone by now, and any out-of-towners that were coming this early would have been on it.

Thomas took a step towards the stairwell, listening. After a second, he looked at his father and shook his head. Joseph sighed.
“It appears that Ill be having a chat with Mr. Sullivan regarding his nephew.” He said. It was common knowledge that Frank Sullivan’s nephew, John, wasn’t exactly ‘all there’ at times. The only reason he had a job at the telegraph office was because Frank had taken pity on his only sister’s son.

It seemed that once again the young man had gotten the wires crossed, as it were, and sent the wrong information to the wrong place. Joseph was in the midst of telling his son that he would be back shortly when they were both startled by the banging of a door downstairs, and a half dozen or so voices filtering upstairs. They straightened up and made sure the place was ship-shape. Joseph’s errands could wait.

I know what its like for people to screw up a name. Mines a pain in the arse.
